For the past five years, I have been a security guard at multiple locations, two that involve colleges, and the most recent location is known as the ninth largest high school in the country. It is a high school with amazing staff and students, and where a lot of
hopes and dreams begin for these young individuals. The high school is a breeding ground for
racial diversity which makes it a wonderful high school to attend, and
gets young adults prepared and for the real world.Students with ethnic backgrounds from all over the world who speak multiple languages. It is truly an amazing place to work, with amazing people to interact with. A job that truly helps me appreciate the little things in life, and to realize how truly blessed I was growing up.
Along with the the amazing students and staff, there are a percentage of the students who tend to fall off track, and head in the wrong direction on their life path. With a student population being so large it is hard to expect every student to be perfect. There are many students who get into some trouble every now and then. Then there are students who are in trouble constantly; students who are in trouble not only in school, but also on the street. There are some students who are involved in gang activity within the city of Reading, and the activity pours into the school. With this going on it makes the learning environment much tougher on the other students. There are multiple gangs that operate within the building, which causes conflicts between the groups. The gangs in the city and other areas across the United States are terrorizing our young children, and are robbing them of their adolescence and childhoods. I will continue on to touch on the different gangs that operate in our country and the children they are targeting and affecting.
